Strakka aims for Privateer World Cup in 2012
It also means our drivers Nick Leventis, Jonny Kane and Danny Watts could be World Cup winners this time next year – just like the New Zealand All Blacks (albeit smaller and faster)!
The build of the new Honda Performance Development HPD ARX-03a is on schedule, with the Wirth Research tub and chassis being developed at its headquarters in Bicester. The brand new 3.4-litre normally aspirated HPD V8 engine will then be installed, before a possible systems shakedown test in the UK before pre-season testing begins in earnest.
“The Privateer Cup represents a realistic goal for our team in its first year in P1 with our HPD ARX-03a, and to bring the trophy home to Silverstone at the end of 2012 would be great achievement,” says Piers Phillips, Team Principal and Technical Director.
“We also believe we can do well outside the privateers section. The manufacturers bring a high level of competitivity to the WEC, and it’s important for any serious privateer team with high aspirations to work itself up to that level and to be able to challenge those manufacturers. Strakka Racing is all about facing new challenges and the pursuit of increasing our performance on and off the track, and we’re all enormously looking forward to the WEC.”
